Meet our Operations Intern, Ria

We are happy to introduce you to our spring operations intern, Ria! Ria is from Indonesia and is part of the Community College Initiative, a scholarship program run by the US Department of State. Through this program, she is currently studying and taking classes at the College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn, IL.

Ria was interested in interning at Re:new as she currently runs a similar non-profit, TimbalBalik.id , in her country.  TimbalBalik.id accepts donated jeans and then partners with local women tailors who recycle the jeans to produce bags, pouches and pencil cases that are sold online through their instagram account and offline at different trade shows and events.

Ria hopes to learn more about operating, maintaining, and evaluating a non-profit through her experience working with Re:new.   When we asked her about her time here so far, she said:  "Re:new inspires me in many ways.   I am so impressed with how this non-profit runs.   I like the atmosphere here, everybody is close to each other and works happily.  Overall, Re:new motivates me to do better in my own project and teaches me to help as many people as possible in my surroundings."

We are so thankful to have you here Ria!
